Tuesday Night Improv

I began my comedy career as a stage actor in New England. I first performed improv comedy and sketch when I joined the Ensemble for "Tuesday Night Improv" at the Player's Ring Theater in Portsmouth, NH.

Bit by the comedy bug I threw all my worldly possessions into a rental truck and relocated to Chicago so I could study improv and sketch with the best comedy teachers in the world. I graduated from the Improv Olympic (now renamed iO) improvisation program and the Second City Advanced Conservatory. I also took classes with Annoyance. For six years I performed improv and sketch all over Chicago, at the same time performing in stage plays.

Now I'm in Los Angeles and focusing on writing as much as performing. Since coming to L.A. I've Graduated from the Second City Writing Program and the Top Story! Weekly! writing program.

I co-founded the sketch group Happy Virus Mind People (now George Mormon) and with those guys co-wrote and performed in the sketch shows Funnilingus and The Lamest Generation, both staged at Second City L.A.

And I did a little stand up, performing at Acme Comedy and the Comedy Store.

While working on screenplays and TV specs, I've also been producing comedy sketches for my YouTube Channel, Mike Gillett Comedy.
